D8-4 Front Caliper Kit, Anodized, Corvette C2 / C3 65-82 w/ Lines
The Wilwood D8-4 Front Replacement Caliper Kit (Anodized) is designed to fit the front brakes of 1965–1982 Chevrolet Corvettes. This kit improves braking reliability with aluminium callipers that are more heat-resistant and lightweight compared to stock. The included stainless steel braided flexline hose kit* provides increased durability and better performance under high heat compared to original rubber hoses. The callipers are designed for easy installation, using original mounting hardware and a modern 1/8-27 NPT inlet fitting for cleaner, secure hose connections. The calliper can be used with your stock master cylinder and integrates straightforward pad replacement through a pin-and-clip setup, simplifying both initial installation and future maintenance.
KEY SPECIFICATIONS
- Vehicle Compatibility: 1965–1982 Chevrolet Corvette front spindles (check spindle fitment for your year)
- Caliper Material: Anodized aluminum
- Brake Hose: Stainless steel braided flexline kit included
- Pad Fit: BP-10 compound pads included in standard kits (not included on "-U" suffix kits)
- Inlet Fitting: 1/8-27 NPT
- Recommended Brake Fluid: Wilwood Hi-Temp 570 DOT 3 (for street use) or Wilwood EXP 600 Plus for high heat (not for DOT 5 silicone fluid)
HOW INSTALLATION WORKS
Installers should be experienced with disc brake systems. Begin by supporting the suspension, removing the front wheel, and removing the two calliper mounting bolts. The Wilwood calliper fits directly with the Corvette’s original bolts and washers—use red Loctite® 271 on threads and torque to factory specs. Brake pads are inserted by removing and reinstalling a retaining pin and clip. The supplied stainless braided hoses fit the calliper’s 1/8-27 NPT inlet using PTFE tape on the pipe threads. Always route hoses to avoid contact with moving parts and verify that they are not crimped. The brake system needs to be fully bled and the pads bedded properly. Always check wheel and spindle clearance before starting.
FACTORY FIT NOTES
This calliper kit fits the front spindle on all 1965–1982 Chevrolet Corvettes, but always confirm your spindle type and check wheel clearance. Original mounting bolts and washers are reused. The included stainless lines are necessary, as OEM rubber hoses are not compatible with the calliper’s NPT inlet. Verify all fittings and hose lengths for your specific application, as some factory variations may be present. The calliper works with the stock master cylinder, but the brake system balance should be checked if other components are modified.
