The Wilwood Street Performance Dynapro Low-Profile (DPLP) Rear Parking Brake Kit is designed as a technical upgrade for 1959-1964 Chevrolet Impalas and 1957-1962 Corvettes. This complete rear disc brake solution improves braking performance by replacing factory drum brakes with four-piston, forged billet aluminium callipers and 11-inch vented, drilled rotors. The system features an integrated, cable-operated internal parking brake shoe for secure static holding, especially on slopes. The kit’s compact calliper layout allows proper clearance for 14-inch and 15-inch wheels, making it compatible with common classic fitments. The kit balances braking for both spirited and regular street driving using high-friction BP-10 pads. Its one-piece rotor design and quality hardware are aimed at reliable operation and improved stopping consistency, while the vented rotors help with heat management under repeated braking.

INSTALLATION DETAILS

Experienced installers will want to remove all stock rear brake components and prepare the axle housing by trimming the OEM bearing retainer for calliper bracket clearance. The kit uses included shims, brackets, and hardware to mount the calliper and rotor assemblies onto the axle flange. Calliper alignment shims help centre the rotor, and calliper fasteners require the application of red thread locker and torquing to spec. The rotor hat may need to be machined for proper wheel stud fitment. New hydraulic brake lines are required (not included), and the callipers have a 1/8-27 NPT inlet. Parking brake cables are not provided, but specific Wilwood cable kits are available for these vehicle models. Follow the recommended brake pad and rotor bedding procedure for best results.

FACTORY FITMENT NOTES

This kit is a direct fit for 1959–1964 Chevy Impala and 1957–1962 Corvette rear axle housing flange patterns. Required specs include a 2.82” axle centre register and a maximum 6.61” flange diameter with a .050” x 45° chamfer. Maintain at least a .080” clearance between the calliper and wheel. Rotor hats accept 1/2” studs; upgrading is advised if your originals are 7/16”. Always check the fit with the wheel clearance diagram before installation. You will need to provide or source compatible brake lines and parking brake cables, as OEM units are rarely a direct fit.
