Builder Spotlight: Travis Prowess on Why HydraStop Was the Right Choice for His ’68 C50

My name is Travis Prowess from CTV Concepts in Gardnerville, Nevada. This truck is a 1968 C50 crew cab. We’ve got a strong relationship with CPP—we work with them a lot in the shop on our own builds as well as customer projects—so going with the HydraStop system was a natural call.

From the start, the install was super easy. Everything lined up perfectly and bolted right in. CPP supplied all the lines, all the fittings—everything you need to get the job done the first time. There was no guessing, no stopping halfway through to figure out what part you’re missing. Everything plumbed right in and worked exactly like it should.

This truck weighs around 12,000 pounds, so stopping power was a big concern. That’s why I really talked with CPP about running the HydraStop on this build—we needed the extra assist to confidently get this thing stopped. From a drivability standpoint, it works awesome. The truck stops great, everything feels right, and it performs exactly the way we wanted.

The truck actually started life as a Suburban, and we cut it down into a crew cab, which is one of the big highlights of the build. Being a C50 crew cab with the medium-duty truck front end really sets it apart, and that combination is a huge part of what makes this truck so unique.
