The Wilwood FDL Front Drag Race Brake Kit (Part #140-1013-BD) is a direct bolt-on setup designed for drag racing on 1971–78 midsize Ford vehicles and certain aftermarket front struts, covering both disc and drum spindles. The forged billet aluminium hubs and forged Dynalite four-piston callipers help trim over 30 pounds of weight from the front end compared to stock drums or disc brakes. The kit uses a solid, drilled steel rotor for reduced mass and better heat management. Hub assemblies are drilled for two common five-lug bolt patterns, providing wheel fitment flexibility. Every kit includes the required high-strength hardware, bearings, seals, and extra-length studs for a complete technical update. SUMMARY OF INSTALLATION DETAILS
Remove the original brakes down to the spindle. Bolt on the calliper mounting bracket using the indicated holes for your model year. Pack the bearings and assemble the hub/rotor using the supplied hardware, applying red Loctite and safety wiring as instructed. Mount the calliper with shims for proper alignment. Braided stainless flexlines and appropriate fittings are required (OEM hoses cannot be reused). Follow step-by-step torque specs and procedures for bleeding, bedding, and brake testing as outlined in the included instructions.

- Requires Wilwood or compatible braided steel flexlines—OEM rubber hoses are not compatible
- Dual bolt patterns in the hub—verify the correct pattern for wheel fitment
- Use specified steel spacer if wheels overhang hub face
- Swap left/right brackets when using drum spindles
- Some spindles may need minor cleanup to ensure the bracket fits flush
- Apply Loctite to all fasteners and ensure full thread engagement
- Follow OEM procedure for bearing adjustment and wheel nut setup
