
Power Steering Gear Boxes
The 500 Series is the best of its kind, being the only box on the market today manufactured with a one-piece housing and all new parts. It uses the original pitman arm and has a 14-1 ratio. CPP’s 500 Series box has been factory-tested to ensure the quality you expect from us. This direct replacement for the 605 produces excellent road feel and driver feedback, eliminating leaky, sloppy steering. Our Conversion Kit includes the 500 Series box with a power steering hose kit and pump, as well as an early model small block Chevy V8 power steering pump bracket. Optional chrome finish and new pitman arms are also available. ... The compact 400 Series™ power steering box uses late-model steering technology for your classic vehicle. It is a direct replacement for the original manual steering box and maintains perfect alignment with the OE or aftermarket column. The compact design closely models the original manual steering box.
With a 13.6:1 ratio (2.75 turns lock to lock), it delivers performance handling comparable to many rack and pinion conversions without requiring extensive modifications. It features a ¾"-30 input shaft, uses inverted flare hoses (11/16"-18 pressure fitting and 5/8"-18 return fitting), and fits the factory manual steering pitman arm (Mustang requires a custom pitman arm included in the steering linkage kit, and Ford and Chevy trucks require a “Toyota” pitman arm).
