Wilwood Forged Dynapro Low-Profile Rear Parking Brake Kit FDP-LP 11.00" P-Brake Kit, Impala 59-64 / Corvette 57-62
This Wilwood Dynapro Low-Profile Rear Parking Brake Kit upgrades 1959–1964 Chevrolet Impala and 1957–1962 Chevrolet Corvette rear axles to a complete disc brake setup with a compact profile designed for use with 14- to 15-inch wheels. The kit includes forged billet Dynapro low-profile calipers, a one-piece rotor hat, and an 11.00-inch vented rotor. Its internal shoe-style parking brake assembly provides static holding power without adding bulk or altering the rear axle’s layout.
The low-profile caliper body offers extra clearance for modern wheel designs and ensures consistent performance without interfering with suspension components. The vented rotor helps reduce heat during braking, and optional drilled and slotted configurations are available for increased cooling. The system is built around a clean, functional internal parking brake and uses rotor registration adapters and shim spacers for proper alignment and rotor centering. All major parts are treated for corrosion resistance and are designed for long-term service with minimal adjustment.
KEY SPECIFICATIONS
- Rotor Diameter: 11.00 inches
- Rotor Thickness: 0.81 inches
- Rotor Offset: 2.46 inches
- Calipers: Forged Dynapro Low-Profile, black or red finish
- Minimum Wheel-to-Caliper Clearance: 0.08 inches
- Maximum Axle Flange Diameter: 6.61 inches with 0.050" x 45° chamfer
- Recommended Wheel Studs: 1/2" (upgraded from OEM 7/16")
INSTALLATION DETAILS
Installers must verify that the OEM bearing retainer is clear of the internal parking brake assembly, especially around the shoe adjuster and actuator. The rotor and caliper must be centered using the included shims and rotor registration adapters, and red Loctite® 271 should be used on all mounting bolts. The parking brake cable must be pre-stretched, and routing should maintain a smooth bend radius between 6 and 8 inches to prevent cable strain. Bleed the system following the correct order, beginning with the caliper farthest from the master cylinder, and confirm a firm pedal before driving. Note that this kit does not include hydraulic lines, fittings, or parking brake cables, and those must be sourced separately.
FITMENT AND COMPATIBILITY
This kit is built to fit 1959–1964 Chevrolet Impala and 1957–1962 Chevrolet Corvette rear axles with 9” bearing flanges and matching bolt patterns. It is compatible with axles that have a flange diameter of up to 6.61 inches, and requires 1/2-inch wheel studs in place of the original 7/16-inch size. Before installation, verify all clearance points and confirm that your axle dimensions match the rotor and caliper layout. Some vehicles may require additional modification depending on bearing retainer design or suspension setup.
