The Wilwood Street Performance FDL Front Brake Kit (part #140-7676-D) is designed for 1955–1957 Chevrolet cars with original spindles. This complete front disc kit brings technical improvements for better-stopping power and reliability. It features forged aluminium Dynalite 4-piston callipers, offering durability and a lighter weight compared to cast-iron designs. The 12.19" vented and drilled rotors provide efficient heat dissipation and reduced fade under heavy braking. The dual bolt pattern hub (5x4.50 and 5x4.75) increases compatibility with a range of wheels. All required mounting hardware, high-performance BP-10 pads, bearings, and seals are included, making it easier to upgrade from factory drums to modern disc performance.

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW

Wilwood recommends that installation be performed by someone experienced with disc brake conversions. The kit requires the complete removal of all factory drum brake components down to the spindles. Mounting brackets may need shims for precise rotor alignment. All torque specs must be observed for safety, and bearings should be packed with high-temperature disc brake grease and properly adjusted for end play. Brake lines are not included, and OEM hoses will not fit the included callipers; Wilwood stainless braided hoses and adapter fittings are required. Check for at least 0.080" wheel-to-caliper clearance before final assembly. Brake bleeding and a bedding-in procedure are essential for proper performance.

FACTORY FIT NOTES

This kit is designed to fit 1955–1957 Chevy cars with original spindles. Some spindle “ear” material may need to be removed for calliper bracket clearance (avoid contact with mounting holes). Wheel fitment must be checked due to possible changes in track width and wheel offset compared to the original drums. Ensure all fasteners and shims are properly seated. When using Classic Performance Products spindles, begin with two 0.024” shims between the bracket and spindle for baseline alignment.
