The CPP Show Stopper HydraStop Kit is engineered for 1955-64 Chevy Full Size models including Bel Air, Biscayne, and Impala platforms. This hydraulic brake assist system replaces the original vacuum booster with a high pressure steering powered unit that delivers consistent braking force regardless of engine vacuum levels. Full size Chevrolet vehicles are heavier than later muscle cars and often upgraded with disc conversions, big block engines, or aggressive camshafts. Hydraulic assist provides stable pedal response under all driving conditions by generating up to 1800 psi at the wheels using power steering pressure instead of engine vacuum. This Show Stopper configuration includes a billet aluminum firewall mount bracket, stainless high pressure hoses with return lines, AN6 fittings installed, and a black Wilwood 1 1/8 inch bore master cylinder. The chrome accumulator cover provides a refined engine bay appearance. No brake valve is included, allowing flexibility for custom brake plumbing layouts. HydraStop assemblies are brand new units and are backed by a limited lifetime warranty when installed with a power steering filter.
The master cylinder reservoir should always hold enough fluid to allow the brake pads to completely wear away without the risk of running out of fluid. As a disc brake pad wears, the caliper piston will extend out of its bore. As the caliper piston extends, the master cylinder fluid level will drop in order to fill the caliper bore with brake fluid. If the reservoir is too small, there is a possibility that the master cylinder can run out of fluid and the brakes will fail.
