The Wilwood Street Performance FDL Big Brake Front Hub Kit (part #140-10440-BD) is designed to provide a significant braking performance upgrade for 1974-1980 Ford Pinto and 1974-1978 Mustang II vehicles equipped with factory disc brake spindles and five-lug hubs. This kit replaces the original front braking components with forged aluminium Dynalite callipers and large 12.19-inch vented rotors, which improve heat dissipation and resist brake fade during heavy use. The kit includes high-performance BP-10 brake pads for consistent and reliable stopping power, as well as all essential hub components, bearings, and seals for smoother operation and enhanced longevity. Designed to fit common classic Ford bolt patterns (5 x 4.50 and 5 x 4.75), this kit offers increased stopping capability that matches modern upgrades, such as larger wheels, performance tyres, or upgraded suspension. INSTALLATION SUMMARY
Installation requires removing the original hub, rotor, and calliper; attaching new mounting brackets; assembling the hub with supplied bearings and seals; mounting the rotor and calliper to the bracket and spindle; and connecting new brake lines (OEM lines do not fit). Proper alignment is ensured with included shims, and correct torque values must be followed for all fasteners. Use DOT 3 or 4 (not DOT 5) brake fluid, and bleed and test the system carefully before use. Only experienced installers should attempt this installation, as brakes are a critical safety system.

- Direct fit for 1974–1980 Ford Pinto and 1974–1978 Mustang II with disc brake spindles and five-lug configuration.
- Supports 5 x 4.50 and 5 x 4.75 wheel bolt patterns—confirm your specs before starting.
- Minimum wheel-to-caliper clearance is 0.080”; some wheels may require spacers or hub shields (Wilwood PN 300-11961 or 300-10716).
- OEM brake hoses do not fit Dynalite callipers; Wilwood’s recommended stainless steel flex lines and fittings must be used.
- Some spindle modification may be needed for the bracket to fit if factory calliper ears interfere; remove them carefully to preserve the mounting holes.
- Wheel offset and track width can change slightly, so double-check if you’re running tight clearance on wheels/tyres or suspension.
- Use only supplied and specified hardware and torque; verify fit before final assembly.
